Why The North Grove is #COVIDsafer

Updated: Apr 12, 2022

As we watch COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations and deaths hit record numbers, The North Grove is more determined than ever to keep our team and community safe.

This week we are adjusting our April program calendar to protect everyone’s health by:

  • Allowing for more social distance in programs

  • Staying masked at all times

Some programs will move to bigger rooms, a few will go online and some will be postponed until numbers improve again. Here’s why:

  • This community is home to some of the most health compromised individuals in our city

  • In the broader community 3% of people are compromised

  • Our surveys tell us that up to 76% of The North Grove’s community are diagnosed with one of more chronic health conditions, including diabetes, heart disease and cancer

  • Our program participants also include pregnant parents and families with children who are too young to be vaccinated

We’ve made it through two tough years, doing everything we can to take care of everyone, especially those most at risk. Let’s keep it up for just a few more weeks.

When June arrives, numbers will go down and we will ALL be able to be together, safely.

We know this back and forth is tough on everyone. There are not enough words to express our gratitude to The North Grove community, who have so willingly done everything they can to take care of one another, even as the rest of the world opens up.

Thank you for being the most caring neighbours and friends. We are almost there. Together.

Wendy Fraser

Executive Director, The North Grove
