Join The North Grove's Blue Nose team!

Updated: Mar 31, 2022

Yes, Pear-y is back and we are gearing up for the Blue Nose, May 20-22, 2022! Our team of walkers and runners are limbering up and getting ready to raise $10,000 to support summer programming and make our Community Farm accessible to even more people!

Get involved!

The North Grove’s Community Farm is a vibrant 20,000 sq. ft. gathering space in the heart of Dartmouth North.

The Community Farm has something for everyone. By joining our Blue Nose team, you can help support vital summer programming and make our outdoor spaces accessible to even more people through programs like:

  • Young Farmers

  • Sunshine Gang Day Camp

  • Family Playgroup and Baby & Me Playgroup

  • Community Garden Plots

  • Harvesting and preserving workshops using produce grown on our Community Farm

  • Intergenerational arts and crafts programs and more!

“We just love being there, we love the space. We can usually be found outside every day, checking on our garden plots, playing in the secret garden. We sometimes hang out there to play cards and play music. It feels like its own little community.” -Kirsten, David, & Jake

This year we’d like to make the Community Farm more accessible by:

  • Levelling the courtyard ground so mobilities devices can be used.

  • Creating wider paths and routes for ease of navigation.

  • Installing overhead solar lighting to provide community members with safe navigation of the space in the evenings.

  • Making raised u-pick garden beds at accessible heights to provide everyone with easy access to grow, tend and harvest fresh vegetables.

  • Adding more seating space for community members to find easy resting places and gather safely.

The North Grove gratefully acknowledges that we live and work in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi'kmaq people.

This territory is covered by the Treaties of Peace and Friendship which Mi’kmaq, Wolastoqiyik, and Passamaquoddy People first signed with the British Crown in 1726. We are all treaty people.

People of African descent have also shared these lands for more than 400 years.

We acknowledge the histories, contributions, and legacies of these communities and are grateful to live, work and grow food in Mi’kma’ki.
