The North Grove welcomes four new community leaders to its Board of Directors

Susan Mullin, Chair of The North Grove’s Board of Directors, today announced four well-known community leaders are joining the organization’s Board of Directors.

"As The North Grove embarks on a new strategic plan, these new Board members will play a key role in supporting the organization’s focus on sharing good food, strengthening families, and building a community where everyone belongs,” said Mullin.

Poet Comeau

Poet's roots are in Dartmouth, where she has lived and worked all her life. She opened Lake City Cider in July 2018 and Darty Brewing last year, both on Portland Street and has been a supporter of The North Grove for years.

Poet is a well-known leader in the downtown Dartmouth business landscape. Previously, she had a successful career in sales management in the wine and beverages sector.

Jill Provoe

Jill is the Vice-President of Campuses and Communities at Nova Scotia Community College. Jill believes in working collaboratively towards community prosperity, and has a strong commitment to diversity, inclusion and Reconciliation.

Jill joined NSCC in 2006 as Coordinator of the African-Canadian Transition Program. Since then, she has held roles as Dean of School of Access, Executive Director of Human Rights, Equity and Inclusion, Vice-President Academic, and Vice-President of Equity and International.

John Wedderburn

John is the Director of Development and Strategy at the North End Community Health Centre, with a background in communications, development, and stakeholder engagement.

John has held positions at organizations such as the Black Business Initiative, the Delmore Buddy Daye Learning Institute, Emera and Nova Scotia Power. His leadership extends to public service as a previous Senior Advisor, Communications & External Relations in the Office of Mayor Mike Savage.

Hon. James (Jim) Williams

Jim retired in 2025, after a 38-year judicial career, most recently on the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia (Family Division). Throughout his career, he was widely recognized for his contributions to family law, legal education and judicial training across Canada.

Jim taught at Dalhousie University's Schulich School of Law for more than 30 years and held leadership positions with numerous national legal and family law organizations.
