Easy-Peasy Microwave Playdough

This microwave playdough recipe is so easy to make at home and will provide hours of fun for children of all ages. A great project for a snowy day!
Homemade playdough is a staple in The North Grove’s Child Development programs and often shared with families by our Home Visitors. It’s a great cost-saver, and it uses safe ingredients you may already have in your kitchen.
Ingredients
1 cup flour
1/4 cup salt
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 cup water
1 tablespoon cooking oil
Food colouring
2 tablespoons vanilla extract
Cooking spray
Instructions
Spray microwavable bowl with cooking spray.
Place flour, salt and cream of tartar in bowl and stir with whisk.
Combine water, cooking oil and food colouring in measuring cup. Add to bowl, whisking to mix ingredients well. Use rubber spatula to push mixture down from sides of the bowl.
Microwave for 1 minute.
Add vanilla extract and mix well. Use rubber spatula to push mixture down.
Microwave for 1 minute and 30 seconds more.
Knead dough with hands until dough is not sticky.
When cooled, keep dough in zip-top bag.
Note: Your playdough may take less or more time to microwave depending on the power of your microwave.
