Our History

The first Speak Up! Show Up! campaign was held in 2016 during the municipal by-election in Dartmouth North.

The North Grove’s Community Action Team created weekly events, including a Voter Pop Up, All Candidates Meeting and Voting Parade that attracted widespread community interest and media attention.

Voter turnout more than tripled - from 2.7% to 7.45% - after the first Speak Up! Show Up! campaign and similar events have been held for every election, at all government levels, ever since.

A big thank you to East Coast Credit Union for its support of our Community Action Office, which organizes Speak Up! Show Up!
