Making Space for Play
Play ties into every aspect of a child’s life - it’s physical, cognitive, social, and it's emotional.     “Play is everything to a child. It’s how they learn, it’s how they distinguish good from bad, it’s how they view the world. They can act out scenarios safely, and take risks,” says Maryann, The North Grove’s Child Development Coordinator.    “It’s how they build an awareness of themselves, and of others. They build social skills, and play helps them develop confidence and self-esteem,”...

From The North Grove Kitchen: Taco Lasagna
We love having fun and being creative in The North Grove kitchen!  There’s no shortage of inspiration – community members are always swapping recipes and flavour ideas. This first Food Demo of 2026 is a fun fusion of two family-favourites – tacos and lasagna!  You can make this dish your own. The North Grove gratefully acknowledges that we live and work in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi'kmaq people.

This territory is covered by the Treaties of Peace and Friendship which Mi’kmaq, Wolastoqiyik, and Passamaquoddy People first signed with the British Crown in 1726. We are all treaty people.

People of African descent have also shared these lands for more than 400 years.

We acknowledge the histories, contributions, and legacies of these communities and are grateful to live, work and grow food in Mi’kma’ki.

                You are welcome here.
